Poker is a card game that involves betting between players and the chance of winning a hand. The game has many variants, but they all share certain essential features. A poker hand consists of five cards. The value of a hand is in inverse proportion to its mathematical frequency; this means that a rarer hand is worth more than a common one. Players may bet that they have the best hand, and other players must either call (i.e. match) the bet or concede. Each player starts with two cards and then builds a poker hand by drawing additional cards to replace those they already have. The final hand is revealed and the player with the best one wins. The game usually involves several betting rounds, and each player must place chips into the pot to participate in a round.<\/p>\n
During a betting interval, a player must place into the pot at least the number of chips that were placed by the player to their left in the previous interval.
